Mung Bean Cake

Weather becomes more and more warm, which shows summer is closer and closer. Ice cream is one f the icon of summer. It can help people to alleviate the heat of summer. In China, there is another dessert has this magical ability. It's called mung bean cake.

According to the information online, "The main ingredient, mung beans or sometimes called as green mung bean is a common and daily ingredient in Chinese cooking. In traditional Chinese medicine, those little green beans have a cold property, which can further help to protect our body from hot temperature in summer."

Actually, there are two kinds of mung bean cakes in China. Beijing style mung bean cake and southern style mung bean cake. The biggest difference between those two is whether adding oil or not. Beijing style doesn't need oil, but southern style does.

Today's mung bean cake is southern style. Personally, I like this style better. I have to say as for food, southern China does better than northern China overall.

There are only one month left for this semester. Can't wait going back my home and have more traditional Chinese food.
